Playing catch up (as usual) ...

I always do this to myself.  I get bad at posting and then here I have 8 months worth of catch up to do.  I most likely won't cover all the details of everything going on with the Alarcon clan but I will try.

Let's see, since I last posted some fun things have happened around here.  Chase started Kindergarten in September and it was very exciting.  They wear uniforms here in Savannah and Chase was so excited to take his Mario lunch box to school.  He was just excited about school, period.  As for me, I was excited for him but also a bit sad.  As I watched him get on that school bus I remembered the last 5 years and stood there, tears streaming down my face while smiling and waving goodbye at the same time. Then I looked over at Ramon and his eyes were misty too so I didn't feel too out of control. When Chase got off the bus that afternoon he came running towards me with his arms wide open and couldn't wait to tell me all about his day!  And I couldn't wait to hear all about it.  I missed him so much.

We also went to Disney World in September and I don't even have words for how fun that trip was.  We had the best time.  It was our first family vacation and we just enjoyed every minute.  We are already planning our next Disney trip!  We obviously took hundreds of pics but here are a few shots to show the magic in the kid's eyes and all the fun!

Halloween was fun. Trick or treating in a new neighborhood was a fun new experience and the weather was fabulous.  We've never experienced a WARM Halloween so that was different.

Christmas was quiet but fun.  We enjoyed our own little family and created our own traditions together.  We made salt dough ornaments that we painted and hung, we made chocolate chip cookies that we delivered to friends and neighbors.  On Christmas Eve our elf Buddy gets picked up by Santa and goes back to the North Pole but he leaves the kids a note and a gift (usually jammies).  This year we let them give Buddy and hug and kiss goodbye which, if you know about Elf on the Shelf, touching your elf is not allowed so they thought it was so fun and didn't want to let him go.  It was so cute.

We've had some fun weekends here in Savannah. I am posting some of my faves from our adventures here over the last several months.

Exquisite Little Lady

Last September my sister in law came to visit and brought me some goodies for Bryn.  They were the cutest hair clips for headbands and I am a sucker for a cute headband!  She explained to me that the styles in Utah are different than just the every day "ribbon bow".  I felt like all I could ever find for Bryn was ribbon bows.  And not that I have anything against them, I think they are darling but I really loved these flowers she brought.  They were beautiful and just different from the norm. I thought man, I wish I lived in Utah to have nonstop access to these cute goodies!  Then I thought well maybe not, I'd make us bankrupt.  She told me I could make them myself.  Now, I've never been the "crafty" type.  At all.  I truly didn't know if it was even remotely possible for me to duplicate something like that.  After she left, I was talking to Ramon and I said you know what, I'm just going to try.  So I bought some fabric and sat down one night, completely blind and with no clue as to what I was doing, and made one.  I thought it was cute although looking back now it was pretty pitiful.  Haha  ....But I was proud of myself.  These nightly sessions of making these flowers became an obsession and I was getting better at it.  So I decided to launch my own little business.  I figured they were hard to come by in GA and maybe people would like them.  I put up a display at Chase's dance studio with some, I created a Facebook page where I would post pictures of my creations, and last December I even participated in a Holiday Bazaar where I had my first table display.  If anyone knows me they know I LOVE fashion and I love getting inspiration and color pallete ideas from things I see on television or in magazines.  I love putting colors and accessories together in my outfits and it was translating into my work.  I never knew this was something I would really take to and enjoy.  And now, almost a year later, I have an Etsy shop and I take regular custom orders.  I absolutely LOVE dreaming up new ideas for headbands and clips.  And Bryn makes them beautiful.  She is my inspiration for this and I couldn't be more proud.  I have big plans for this little business of mine and I can't wait to see what the future holds!  Here are some pics of some of my favorite creations and links to my FB page and shop on Etsy.

Savannah, Y'all!

This is long overdue but better late than never! Since my last update 4 months ago many changes have taken place in our family. The biggest change was our big move to Savannah. In May we sold our house, packed up over 6 years of accumulated stuff (lots of stuff, I felt like a hoarder) out of our first home and made the big trek down to Savannah. This has been a huge change for our family and its brought a rollercoaster of emotions for me. I was sad to leave our best friends and our wonderful ward where we considered many there our family. We said goodbye to years of memories and our life that we had there. However, there is always positive to every big change. And I've been able to realize that and get through it. Or at least I am getting though it. :) What matters is that we are together and happy. Ramon is in school and chasing his dreams. He is happier than he's been in a very long time. And that makes me happy. Our kids have been wonderful through all the change and excited about our new home and area. And that brings me joy. I know this is for our future and I am willing to make the sacrifice for us to have a better life. I am so proud of Ramon for his hard work and drive in going after what he wants. I am grateful for my Father in Heaven and for the gospel in my life and I know that as long as we are doing what's right, he will get us through it. With that said, we have been having a great time here and appreciating where we live. We've been enjoying downtown Savannah, namely, River Street Sweets where there are the best pralines on earth. We've gotten to go to Tybee Island and Hilton Head beach several times already and the kids just love it. We have a duck pond right next to our house and we love to go down and feed the ducks. We've even found them in our back yard once already! And even though where we live is only temporary, we've enjoyed making it a home. Our favorite things to do during the week while Dad is at school is hang out at the pool, and our very favorite - turn up the music and have dance parties. Now for some pics. :)

Pool time!  (we love our neighborhood pool)

Ramon's welcome reception night (proud wifey)
Bryn loves the beach. She sits and plays in the sand for hours!

The splash pad at Hilton Head is so fun.  The kids rinse off all the sand and have a blast while doing it.  :)
On our way home from the beach at close to sunset.  Beautiful!
